If you haven't heard about the Cowboys - Giants football game that was played two days ago, you have been deprived. The cowboys jumped out to an early lead. They were even up by 16 points at one point. After being up by 16, they were outscored 19 to 3... you guessed it.... the game was tied. There were still four minutes left in the fourth quarter, and the Giants had possession. They drove slowly but steadily, and wasted precious time for the cowboys. With 14 seconds left in the game, the Giants kicked a field goal. They kicked the field goal on second down, just in case of a bad snap. Then they could just down the football and try again. The field goal was successful on the first try. There was 14 seconds left, and the Giants were set to kick the ball to the Cowboys. The kicker kicked a low roller on purpose, hoping a blocker would pick up the ball and not be able to run very far with it. The blockers let it roll by, and it looked as if the ball may roll out of bounds, so the receiver did not pick it up. As luck would have it, the ball rolled out of bounds at the 1/2 yard line. Had it gone another 1/2 yard, it would have been a touchback, meaning the ball would be placed on the 20 yard line. However, since it rolled out of bounds, the ball was placed on the forty yard line, because you are penalized if you kick the ball out of bounds on a kickoff. So the cowboys advanced to the 40 yard line without taking a single tick off of the clock. So there is still 14 seconds to play.... the quarterback drops back, scrambles, and finds a man open and hits hiim for a 25 yard gain. The cowboys were now on the opponents side at the 35 yard line with 3 seconds to go. They only had time to attempt a 52 yard field goal. The reason it was 52 yards is because the goalpost is in the back of the end zone, which adds ten yards, and the kicker needs seven yards to have enough room to be able to kick a ball that won't be blocked. The kicker kicked the ball, and the ball went through on the very left side, with about 4 inches of clearance. The cowboys won the toss in overtime, so they received the ball. They did nothing, punted, the giants did nothing, and punted it back. The cowboys drove down to the 12 yard line and kicked a game winning 29 yard field goal. The game was won at 12:35, and I then did homework until 4:00 in the morning!!!!

I am from Illinois and I like both the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears. Being in Texas, I usually cannot watch either team play. However, the White Sox were on ESPN with a Sunday night game, so I got to watch them. They were doing fine when all of the sudden they gave up a 15 yard touchdown pass on a 3rd and 12, which made the lead go from 4 to 11. Now they were two scores down. The starting quarterback got hurt, and the backup came in and threw an interception. The game was over after that. On the bright side, the White Sox did win, and they are still tied with Minnesota for the lead of their division.

Well, I said in my last post that hopefully I would have more time the next time I posted...... well, things didn't work out as planned. Here is one example of what has happened this week.... On September 9th, I realized that I had a lot of homework due on September 10th. I worked on homework from about 2:00 till 5:00 in the afternoon, ate lunch, worked on homework from 6:30 to 8:30, and then I had to go do football intramurals. Our game started at 9:00 supposedly, so we went a little early to get some practice in. The game actually started at about 9:50, and we were done and back to the dorm at 11:00. Well, I worked on homework from 11:30 ( I had to take a shower of course... as well as a little break ) until 1:30. At 1:30 I had to leave to go judge a contest called "Hands on the Hardbody". If you want to know more about it go to www.hohb.com/start.html You can click 24HR. webcam if you want to see these insane people in action. I had to judge until 4:00. I got back at 4:15, did and finished homework until 5:30, and then I went to bed. I was supposed to get up at 7:30 to go eat breakfast and go to Bible class, followed by English class, followed by chapel, followed by algebra. Well, I managed to turn my alarm off in my sleep and made it to the final 2 to 3 minutes of english class. This is just one example of my week.

As I sit here at about 1:00 in the morning at LeTourneau University, I realize that time is something that I haven't had enough of so far. My brother came and graduated from here, and he told me that time is something that I would have plenty of. I am sure he is right, but I need to first get settled in before I can even think of having spare time.

When I finally do get some spare time, I plan to do a variety of things. I want to lift weights, join the basketball team, join the baseball team, go swimming, as well as play--- unorganized basketball, ping-pong, pool, ultimate frisbee, raquetball, golf, tennis, or even badminton. I doubt that there will ever be a time when I can honestly say that I can't think of anything to do while I am at college. Hopefully by the next time I write a blog I will be settled in and having some spare time.
